Dr. Ward-Paige was selected to be mentored by Minna Epps, IUCN Oceans Director, in recognition of her leadership in applying data-driven approaches to urgent environmental and societal challenges.

While eOceans is rooted in ocean research, its platform is designed for complex, multi-dimensional environmental data across space and time, making it a powerful tool for fisheries, conservation, climate research, and beyond.

“Being named an Ocean Changemaker by The Economist is a tremendous honor,” said Dr. Ward-Paige. “This recognition underscores the critical role of data-driven decisions and the importance of uniting people, organizations, and investments across sectors and regions to protect ecosystems and inform decisions that impact both local communities and global systems.

At a time of urgent need for BBNJ implementation and global biodiversity conservation, this work is more essential than ever.”The Economist’s Ocean Changemakers program highlights individuals and organizations driving transformative change.

eOceans exemplifies the fusion of technology and science, turning observations into actionable insights that benefit ecosystems, communities, and the global economy.
