eOceans Wins People’s Choice Innovation Award at Canada’s Sustainable Blue Economy Summit
September 2026
HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA — 2026-09-18 — eOceans®, a Canadian ocean technology company, has won the People’s Choice Innovation Award at the 2026 Sustainable Blue Economy Summit in Halifax, earning the votes of summit attendees for its approach to making environmental data more useful for real-world decisions.
The award recognizes eOceans among innovators presenting solutions to help advance Canada’s ocean economy. Hosted by Ocean Alliance Canada, an initiative of ECO Canada, the September 18 summit brought together leaders from industry, government, finance, research and ocean innovation to explore how sustainable ocean industries can grow and scale.
For eOceans founder and CEO Dr. Chris Ward-Paige, the challenge is not simply growing the ocean economy. It is understanding which activities are genuinely sustainable and what the evidence says about their impacts.
“We can’t assume that everything happening in the ocean economy is good for the ocean,” said Ward-Paige. “If we want to make smart investments and build a truly sustainable blue economy, we need trusted evidence about what’s happening, where it’s happening and what it means.”
Founded in 2012, eOceans builds purpose-designed software that helps teams manage environmental data and automate the workflows that turn it into results. From data validation and analysis to mapping and reporting, the system helps organizations deliver environmental work more efficiently while maintaining scientific rigour.
The need for that capability extends across ocean research, conservation, monitoring and industry. Environmental teams often spend substantial time processing data and producing reports, limiting their capacity to answer questions, evaluate impacts and support decisions. eOceans is designed to reduce that burden so teams can do more with the resources they have.
“Being chosen by the people in the room means a lot,” said Ward-Paige. “There were so many impressive innovators sharing solutions. Thank you to everyone who voted for eOceans, and to Ocean Alliance Canada and ECO Canada for bringing this community together.”
The recognition adds to eOceans’ growing presence in ocean innovation and reinforces its mission to help teams turn complex environmental information into trusted, useful results.
